We had hoped to have our disco last night but due to Covid it has had to be postponed until next term. The good news though is that because we will be at Level 1 next week, we are able to proceed with the production as planned. Yahoo! All of the children have been working hard on this, as have the teachers who I am certain could successfully run a broadway show if given the chance. What a talented bunch. It will be worth the wait and I’m looking forward to seeing you there.
This week has been Māori Language Week and each day there have been new words and phrases introduced in classes. I’ve even noticed the language being used in the staffroom more. What exciting times for our indigenous language. I have no doubt that some of this will continue on.
Recently there have been a large number of students waiting at school after 3:00, sometimes just to play handball for a bit longer. Although our students love being here, it is important that at 3:00 they go home. If your plans have changed and they do need to wait here a bit longer it isn’t a problem but please let us know.
This week we have had our first recipient of a Silver Award as part of PB4L. Congratulations Arabella! This is quite an achievement and something to be very proud of.
Enjoy your weekend everyone. Hopefully the weather will be nicer than it has been during the week.
Ka kite ano,
Callum Tytler
Acting Principal

FoLS Update
FoLS has a Facebook Group to keep the school community informed of upcoming events and general FoLS going on's. This is a private group just for immediate school families. Please search for us on Facebook and join the group if you haven't already. We would love it if all school families were a part of this group. Facebook: Friends of Lumsden School - FOLS.
FoLS is investigating the opportunity of doing a days tailing as a fundraiser - to help raise funds for the new furniture in the schools newly renovated learning spaces. If you or you know of anyone who would be able to provide a mob or a couple of paddocks of sheep for a day's tailing (preferably in the weekend) can you please contact Beks Ware – 027 462 0508. Thanks.
School Photos
Our school photos will be taken on Tuesday 22nd September. Geoff Horrell will be here at 8.30 am to set up and take any family photos. All children will get an individual photo taken unless parents notify the school they do not want one.
